She was born on 4 August 1962 in Massillon, Ohio. Her father, Elijah Lightfoot, was a janitor and local factory worker, and her mother, Ann Lightfoot, school board member, and a nighttime healthcare aide.
Moreover, she had three elder siblings. Lori had attended the Washington High School in Massillon. In school, she was a trumpet player in the school band.
